So, I am a little tired of hearing about the Obama's ex-minister. I am a little tired of the mud slinging and the issues that should have nothing to do with the political race and it is only April....
Gas prices are something that I worry about, but I would never imagine that my president would make it a major part of his campaign. I think milk is overpriced too, but I don't expect the president to lower the price of milk. I don't have a degree in economics or politics, but cutting the taxes on gasoline for the summer holiday season sounds like a stunt that will eventually hurt us more than help us. Am I the only person that believes that taxes are in place for a reason? Compared to the rest of the world our taxes are really low, but people still complain. Do they think that streets build themselves or police have magic bank accounts that are filled with pixie dust?
People talk about security and having a steady economy, but they don't want to think about what they have to do to keep the system going. Yes, we are in a downturn or weak economy (pronounced 'recession') but it isn't like this has never happened before. The economy is a cycle. Just like all cycles, when something gets out of balance it crashes (or at leasts trips up a bit) I know that I don't have it that bad. I have a full time job that pays my bills. I have a car that gets reasonably good gas milage.I live in a nice place and I can afford food. I also know that I have worked and saved for everything that I have. I was not given anything. I am still paying for college (yes, I know... in some places you can't get loans for school, so I should be grateful. I am) I have had medical problems that were considered 'preexisting' because they were documented in the military, but the military refused to pay for anything. I have saved and payed for all of this stuff. My point is that there are no free rides.
I think the President should be a good role model and provide a good example of American's for the rest of the world. I think the President should address larger topics like overall economic security, health care, the environment, and maybe even getting the hell out of places where we never should have been in the first place....
